PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to use a transmission type rear screen apparatus also as a white board since the contrast of a projected image projected from the back by a projector is high and clear and characters or the like can be written on a screen. SOLUTION: The rear screen apparatus is constituted of a comparatively thick and colored transparent plastic sheet of which the light transmissivity is 75 to 87%, a hard coat layer having abrasion resistance is formed on the surface, a white, opaque and thin light diffusion layer is laminated on the rear face and unified. The screen has screen transmittance of a level that even when the light source of the projector is directly viewed from an observation side, light from the light source is diffused to the surface of the screen and the light source cannot be viewed, characters or the like can be written on the surface of the white screen by a washable marker or the like and the written characters or the like can be wiped off.
