PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of selectively manufacturing a compound containing a plurality of olefin bonds suitable for light-emitting materials. SOLUTION: In the method of selectively manufacturing the compound containing a plurality of olefin bonds that includes, with the first carbon atom in an alkene compound which contains an alkene bond and in which an organic group containing an atom selected from the atoms belonging to the group 13 through the group 16 in the long period-type periodic table for elements is bonded to the second carbon atom out of the first and the socond carbon atoms forming the alkene bond through the atom, a firstπelectron-containing compound containing a firstπelectron-containing group, is reacted to be bonded to it, and after a secondπelectron-containing compound containing a secondπelectron-containing group is bonded to the first carbon atom, with the second carbon atom in the alkene compound, a thirdπelectron-containing compound containing a thirdπelectron-containing group is reacted to be bonded to it, and at least one of the firstπelectron-containing compound, the secondπelectron-containing compound and the thirdπelectron-containing compound is a divalent compound.
