PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which improves ironing moldability of a coated metal strip containing an inner wax for use in ironing. SOLUTION: When this coated metal strip containing the inner wax with the excellent ironing moldability and for use in multi-stage ironing molding is subjected to ironing molding with a total thickness reduction ratio of 10% or more, in terms of the existing state of the wax in a coated film, a cross-sectional area of the wax, which exists at a depth from an outermost surface layer of the coated film before a-th-stage molding to a position expressed by the expression, (100-Ya)×Z/100, is set at 3% or more. In the expression, Ya% represents a thickness reduction ratio in the a-th-stage molding among wax particles observed under a magnification of 2,000 times from the cross-sectional direction of the coated film by means of a TEM analysis microscope, and a Z-ratio represents the thickness of the coated film before the a-th-stage molding.
