1,079,704. Valves. N. W. SEAQUIST. Sept. 1, 1964 [Sept. 3, 1963], No. 35739/64. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F1] The hollow valve stem of an aerosol dispensing container valve is provided with axially spaced ports 14 and 16, one or both of which may be moved inwardly of the sealing gaskets 40, 41 to provide a fine or coarse spray pattern respectively. A second stem biasing spring 50 is engaged by the stem end 32 just prior to exposure of port 14 to indicate a change in spray pattern. Further biasing springs may be provided in association with further dispensing ports. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), a single sealing gasket (46) is provided and spray pattern change is indicated by a projection (62) on the valve stem engaging a projection (60) on the wall of the valve housing (10). In a third embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown), a spring-biased ball (70) in the valve stem engages successively in recesses (76) in the wall of the valve housing to indicate spray pattern change. The ports (14, 16), Fig. 5 (not shown), are semi-circular in shape.
|
