Precipitation of polyphenylene ether from a solution containing polyphenyl ether, comprises mixing a solution, comprising polyphenyl ether and a strong solvent, with a poor solvent in a precipitation vessel while circulating the mixture using the rotating blade, to the precipitate polyphenyl ether particles. The mixture is discharged by overflow of the mixture, and the particles are separated. The precipitation vessel comprises: (a) a draft tube; (b) an agitating blade, preferably selected from a sloped paddle blade, a screw blade and a ribbon blade; (c) baffle(s), situated outside of the draft tube; (d) a port for supplying a solution; (e) a port for supplying the poor solvent; and (f) a discharging port. |
