Drive for a combing machine

A textile combing machine (1) has a number of combing heads (K1-K8), each associated with a swivel-mounted tongs unit (Z1-Z8), a circular comber (9) with a comb segment (8) that works on the tuft (FB) presented by the tongs. A lift-off unit (AV) removes the combed fibres from the tongs (Z1-Z8). The drives (M1-M8) and drive elements (28, 32) acting on the tongs (Z1-Z8) operated sequentially. The forward motion of one swivel grip is followed by the reverse motion of the following swivel grip. The swivel actions are regulated by a central control unit.
