The device has four clips (4) coupled to a displacement unit (5) to bring a joint (3) opposite to a pipe (2). A guiding unit (6) is arranged between the clips. The guiding unit has a guiding surface intended to be in contact with the joint for preventing the twisting of the joint. The displacement unit radially moves away the clips to elastically stretch the joint. An independent claim is also included for a method for installing an elastically deformable ring joint on a pipe.
