Described is a process for obtaining long-chain diamides, which are obtained from fatty acids containing 16 to 20 carbon atoms, preferably 18 carbon atoms, and polyamides with 2 to 5 amino groups in the molecular structure thereof. The reaction between the fatty acids and the polyamides is carried out by applying heat and eliminating water produced in the molecular reaction. The product thus obtained presents particular bands of the amido group, which are hydrocarbon soluble and water dispersible, said product further presenting a high efficiency as a corrosion inhibitor in an alkaline bitter corrosive medium since highly resistant films for protecting metallic surfaces (high carbon steel) are formed.
