A method for shortstopping radical emulsion polymerizations of conjugated dimes such as butadiene, optionally mixed with vinyl-substituted aromatics such as styrene or acrylonitrile, without the production of nitrosamines and/or their precursors, through the joint use of isopropylhydroxylamine and sodium polysulphide as shortstopping agents.
