IMPROVED COUNTER WEIGHT DOOR

The present invention relates to an improved counter weight door of the type for use at an opening in a wall of a building. The counter weight door includes door panels comprising two or more standard sized overhead door pan el sections which are joined together by a pair of J-shaped channel members. A pair of hinge connectors have be mounted side by side at each side of each door panel and adjacent the joint between adjacent top and bottom edges of adjacent doo r panels The axle of the guide rail follower has been lengthened to allow it t o extend through an elongate tubular member on each of the pair of hinge connectors. This gives each pivot connection additional strength and yet allows standard overhead door hinges to be used. Improved pulley mounts allow the pulleys to be easil y arranged and secured above and to the side of the opening in the wall, and l ie substantially in the plane of the door. Mounting the pulleys directly on the guide rails helps the installer mount the pulleys such that their axis of rotation lies substantially perpendicular to the plane of the door. This helps ensure smooth operation o f the pulleys as the door is opened and closed.
