The proposed voltage-to-number converter contains a time delay unit, a reset pulse former, two time interval-to-number converters, and a voltage-to-time interval converter. Each time interval-to-number converter contains a photoelement, a pulse former, two isolating diodes, and optical bit quantizers. The number of the quantizers is equal to that of the bits of the digital code. The output of the voltage-to-time interval converter is connected to the input of the first time interval-to-number converter, via the time delay unit, and the reset inputs of all the quantizers via the reset pulse former and the first isolating diode. The optical output of each preceding quantizer is coupled with the first optical input of the next quantizer. The optical input of the last quantizer is coupled with the optical input of the photoelement. The output of the photoelement is connected to the input of the pulse former. The output of the pulse former is connected to the input of the second time interval-to-number converter via the second isolating diode. Additionally, the proposed converter contains an optoelectronic OR logic element, and each time interval-to-number converter contains a NOT logicelement and a monitoring unit. The input of each time interval-to-number converter is connected to the set inputs of all the quantizer. The output of the NOT logic element is connected to the reset input of the first quantizer, and the input is connected to the reset input of the remaining quantizers. The optical output of each quantizer is coupled with the second optical input of the preceding quantizer and the corresponding input of the monitoring unit. The optical outputs of the first and the last quantizers are accordingly coupled with the first and the second optical inputs of these quantizers. The output of each monitoring unit is optically coupled with the corresponding input of the optoelectronic OR logic element.
