A door operating mechanism for sliding and sliding-folding type doors consists of an elongated inverted channel shaped housing 2 having inwardly extending tracks, hangers 11 travelling on rollers 14 on the tracks, and a two way ram cylinder 26 with piston rod 28 attached to one of the door hangers 11 and positioned above the tracks to allow passage underneath the ram cylinder of the door hangers, the piston having a movement parallel to the track and of approximately half the housing length. The height of the door may be varied by adjusters, the bottom of the door having guide pins 22 running in a groove 24 in the floor. The mechanism may be operated pneumatically or hydraulically and is arranged such that when the door is at rest both end valves of the cylinder are at exhaust, to allow the door to be operated by hand if necessary. A trigger mechanism 58 is employed which may take the form of photo-electric cell or treadle mat,</p> |
