A silyl (meth)acrylate copolymer which comprises (a) silyl (meth)acrylate constituent units of formula (I), or (III) -CH2-CR(COOSiR<11>R<12>R<13>) wherein R<1> to R<4> and R to R<13> are as defined herein, (b) acrylic unsaturated monomer constituent units of formula (II) or silyl (meth)acrylate constituent units of formula (IV) -CH2-CR(COOSiR<14>R<15>R<16>) wherein R, R<5>, Z and R<14> to R<16> are as defined herein and (c) unsaturated monomer constituent units other than the constituent units (a) and (b), providing that when (a) is a component of formula (I), (b) is a compound of formula (II); when (a) is a compound of formula (III), (b) is a compound of formula (IV); and the total amount of the constituent units (a), (b) and (c) is 100 % by weight; and which has a weight-average molecular weight, as measured by GPC, of not more than 200,000.
