The machine has a roller (18) permitting to deform a tube (12). An electric motor (26) driving the roller is supported at an end of an arm (20) supporting the roller. A control unit (28) controls the motor for driving the roller in rotation. The unit (28) controls the motor so that circumferential rotation speed of the roller is equal to circumferential rotation speed of the tube during the initial contact of the roller and the tube. An independent claim is also included for a flow turning method for modifying diameter of a tube.
