PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the manufacturing method and the apparatus of a wound core for transformers, wherein the method can be executed even though without using a reshape holding frame engaged with the outer periphery of a wound core element body. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of a wound core for transformers has a process of winding predetermined times the thin strip of a silicon steel plate, and deforming it in the form of an ellipse to create a wound core elementary body 2, a process of sandwiching the respective two side portions opposed to each other of the wound core elementary body 2 between sandwiching reshape jigs 7, 7 including the outside and the inside reshape jigs 4, 4, 5, 5, and a process of hanging the resultant intermediate by a hanger 8 via one of the sandwiching reshape jigs 7, 7 to anneal it. By this manufacturing method, a wound core 1 can be manufactured for transformers with proper dimensions and shape. When manufacturing another wound core having a different dimension from the wound core 1, inside reshape jigs are prepared, in response to the dimension of the other wound core; and the outside reshape jigs 4, 4 are used in common to be able to reshape the other wound core, having dimensions different from those of the wound core 1.
