IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND ITS CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce shift in image forming position dependent upon the quantity of light of a light beam. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus where the quantity of light of a light beam being utilized for forming a latent image is switched depending on the difference of resolution, lasers 101-104 emit a laser beam for forming a latent image on a photosensitive drum 203. A light beam thus emitted is used for scanning by a polygon mirror 105 and detected by a BD sensor 106. When controlling the emission timing of the lasers 101-104 depending on the detection timing of light beam, a timing control section 204 selects a suitable emission timing from the table in a storage 205 depending on the quantity of light of the light beam or the resolution.
