An apparatus for re-liquefying helium (20) which comprises a purifying device (30) having a porous capturing section (325) for cooling, solidifying and capturing impurities in a helium gas, a gas-discharging pump (25) connected to the inlet for a fluid of the purifying device (30), a non-return valve (50) connected to the outlet for a fluid of the purifying device (30), and a condenser (40) having a liquid holding section (406) for storing impurities solidified inside the body (401) of the condenser together with liquefied helium. The above apparatus can be suitably used for practicing smoothly a helium re-liquefying treatment for recovering the helium having vaporized in a storage vessel for storing liquid helium having an extremely low temperature, re-liquefying the vaporized helium and returning to the storage vessel.
