Disclosed is a novel polymer having a fluorine-containing alicyclic structure in the main chain which structure is formed by ring-forming polymerization of a fluorine-containing monomer. Specifically disclosed are a polymer having a unit formed by ring-forming polymerization of a compound represented by the formula (a) below, a solution composition obtained by dissolving the polymer in an organic solvent, a compound represented by the formula (a-1) below, and a method for producing a compound represented by the formula (a) below wherein the compound represented by the formula (a-1) below is dehalogenated. CF2=CFCRROCF2CF=CF2 (a) CF2X<1>=CFX<2>CRROCF2CF=CF2 (a-1) In the above formulae, R and R independently represent a fluorine atom or a perfluoroalkyl group having 1-3 carbon atoms, and X<1> and X<2> independently represent a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom.
