An automotive safety glass windscreen or side window has a laminated cross section. The glass has an outer layer that is transparent glass and/or plastic over a transparent electrode, an EC layer that is electrochrome with WO3, a solid electrolyte, an ion storage unit, and a further outer transparent glass or plastic layer. The interior face is further covered by a transparent plastic electrolyte foil that retains glass splinters.
