PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve energy saving characteristic and controllability by improving operation efficiency as a whole and to easily realize high cooling characteristic corresponding to a cooled object. SOLUTION: This cooling device comprises a cooling liquid tank 2 for storing the cooling liquid W returned from the cooled object M, a liquid feed pump 3 for supplying the cooling liquid W stored in the cooling liquid tank 2 to the cooled object M, a cooling part 4 having a cooler 4c connected with a refrigerating cycle 8 comprising a digital control refrigerant compressor 7 mounted on a digital switching mechanism part 6, and cooling the cooling liquid W supplied to the cooled object M by heat exchanging, and a control system 9 for switching and controlling the digital switching mechanism part 6 on the basis of, at least, a temperature of the cooling liquid W supplied to the cooled object M and variably controlling the temperature of the cooling liquid W. The digital switching mechanism part 6 switches a loading state for compressing the refrigerant in operating a compressor motor 5, and an unloading state for releasing the compression of the refrigerant in operating the compressor motor 5.
