PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous manufacturing method of a polybenzoxazole precursor excellent in heat resistance, electric properties, mechanical properties and the like. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the polybenzoxazole precursor comprises (a) a first step for synthesizing a dicarboxylic acid derivative by reacting a dicarboxylic acid compound with 1-hydroxybenzotriazole using dicyclohexylcarbodiimide as a condensing agent, (b) a second step for synthesizing the polybenzoxazole precursor by reacting the dicarboxylic acid derivative with a bisaminophenol compound, and (c) a third step for removing 1-hydroxybenzotriazole by-produced as a leaving group from a reaction mixture of the polybenzoxazole precursor using a batchwise chromatograph.
