PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To let a user know the appropriate time of the replacement of a photoreceptor with suitable timing, while remarkably improving accuracy in estimating the service life of a photoreceptor having a protective layer whose film thickness is thin.

SOLUTION: On the basis of a plurality of different consumption parameters, the amount of consumption of the photoreceptor is calculated. On the basis of the calculated amount of consumption of the photoreceptor, photoreceptor life estimating means 2-1 estimates time when the photoreceptor reaches a specified amount for replacement. Before reaching the estimated time, the photoreceptor life estimating means 2-1 outputs a warning in order to urge the replacement of devices including the photoreceptor.
