PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a thermal breakdown and a life degradation of a capacitor provided in a power converter of an electric train. SOLUTION: The electric train is provided with the power converter 9 including the power converter 4 disposed on the overhead wire side and converting AC power supplied from an overhead wire into DC power and the power converter 5 disposed on the drive side and converting the DC power into three-phase AC power, an electric motor 6 driven by the three-phase AC power, and the capacitor 10 for smoothing a voltage of the DC power between the power converter 4 on the overhead wire side and the power converter 5 on the drive side. A controller 13 of the electric train is provided with a means 14 for detecting a stop of a fan 11 for cooling the capacitor 10, and a means 15 for outputting one of an instruction for stopping an operation of the power converter 9 and an instruction for suppressing an output torque of the power converter 9 when the stop of the fan 11 is detected.
