PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aqueous spherical polyester resin fine particle dispersion for an adhesive excellent in adhesive force, water resistance, and solvent resistance. SOLUTION: This method for producing the aqueous spherical polyester resin fine particle dispersion for the adhesive comprises a first process for producing a swelled material, by swelling a water self-dispersing crystalline polyester resin (P) containing alkyl radicals and/or alkenyl radicals with an organic solvent (S) which does not dissolve the water self-dispersing crystalline polyester resin (P), but swells the polymer (P), and has a boiling point of less than 100°C, a second process for producing a preliminary aqueous dispersion, by dispersing the swelled material in an aqueous medium and making the material into a fine particulate state, and a third process for producing the dispersion comprising fine particles of the water self-dispersing crystalline polyester resin (P) dispersed in the aqueous medium, by removing the organic solvent (S) from the preliminary aqueous dispersion.
