PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a softener composition affording excellent softness and having good preservation stability and scarcely wrinkling clothes after a treatment with the softener. SOLUTION: The softener composition comprises 0.1-10 wt.% of a component (a), 5-40 wt.% of a component (b) and 0.1-10 wt.% of a component (c) in (1/50) to (1/2) weight ratio a/b of the component (a) to the component (b) as follows: the component (a) is a copolymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer composition containing 2-[(meth)acryloyloxy]ethyl-2-(trimethylammonio)ethyl phosphate and 2-hydroxy-3-(meth)acryloyloxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride in (95/5) to (50/50) molar ratio and having 5,000-2,000,000 average molecular weight; the component (b) is a quaternary ammonium salt; and the component (c) is at least one ether type nonionic surfactant prepared by adding average 10-50 mol of ethylene oxide to a compound selected from a fatty acid, a polyhydric alcohol fatty acid ester and an alcohol.
