PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment composition having high dispersibility to any medium even when any pigment is used and to provide a method for producing the pigment composition. SOLUTION: The pigment composition has a radical-polymerizable monomer and a pigment surface-treated with an azo group-containing polysaccharide in which the hydroxy group is replaced with an X group represented by formula (1) (wherein a1and a2are each independently a cyano group or a 1-4C alkyl group; b is C(=NH)-NH-C or a 1-4C alkylene group).
