PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a food digestion and excretion time confirming and discriminating body and a discrimination method that confirm the in vivo staying time of an ingested food, and when functions of digestive organs, particularly the function of large intestine is abnormal, a patient can undergo medical treatment and/or can receive improvement of dietary habits. SOLUTION: A natural food product difficult in digestion such as laver or cuttlefish ink or an artificial food product colored with an artificial dye capable of clearly coloring is used as a main material. A carrier as the discriminating body is prepared by forming the material into powder, gelatinous state, tablet or capsular form. The carrier is orally taken, and based on the presence of the color in feces, the retention time of the dye in vivo in terms of the intake of the dye to the primary excretion of the dye is obtained.
