摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the rigidity of an underhead section without losing chip discharging properties in an end mill, especially with a small-diameter neck, and to obtain high working surface accuracy by positively preventing the fall of the underhead section even in a deeper working surface. SOLUTION: A cutting edge section 4 is provided in the front end side of an end mill body 1 through the neck section 3 with a diameter smaller than that of a shank section 2 on the rear end side. A chip discharging groove 5 is formed in the periphery of the end mill body 1 from this cutting edge section 4 to the front end of the neck section 3. A cutting edge 8 is formed on the ridge on the outer periphery side in the cutting edge section 4 of this chip discharging groove 5. The outer diameter D of this cutting edge 8 is set to be larger than that of the neck section 3. The length L of the cutting edge 8 in the axis line O direction is set within the range of 0.2×D-0.8×D relative to the outer diameter D. The cutting-up length M from the front end of the cutting edge section 4 in the axis line O direction of the chip discharging groove 5 is set to be not less than the outer diameter D, and the difference M-L between this cutting-up length M and the cutting edge length L is set within the range of 0.1×D-1.0×D.
