<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain an inkjet recording material, wherein an ink absorbing layer containing inorganic ultrafine particles as a main component is provided on a substrate, by forming the ink absorbing layer with good printing quality and with no crack on a coating layer. <P>SOLUTION: In this method for forming the ink absorbing layer, an ink-absorbing-layer coating liquid, wherein the inorganic ultrafine particles are contained as the main component, is applied to a substrate/dried on the substrate. The method for forming the ink absorbing layer, wherein the ink-absorbing-layer coating liquid is gelated by heating, comprises a step of heating/gelating the coating liquid in an atmosphere with a relative humidity of 70% or more after the application of the ink-absorbing coating liquid, and a step of heating/gelating the coating liquid in an atmosphere with a relative humidity of less than 70%, subsequently to the step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
