<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing data preparation apparatus preparing printing data for conducting edgeless printing without missing information not to be missed, and to provide a printer conducting the edgeless printing. <P>SOLUTION: In editing characters and a picture to be printed on a label 310 by using an editor 100, a first printing region and a second printing region are formed as regions for inputting the characters and the picture. A region surrounded with a dashed line 351a is used as the first printing region 351; a region surrounded with a dashed line 352a is used as the second printing region. The first printing region 351 is the region included in the label region 310, and also the region having no deficient characters, and the like even if the position of a label tape 300 is deviated. Consequently, printing the characters and the picture on the label is insured. Furthermore, a background and a matrix pattern are arranged on the second printing region 352, where, printing all the arranged characters and picture is not always ensured.
