<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably manufacturing a catalyst with high selectivity, and to provide the catalyst with high selectivity. <P>SOLUTION: The hydrogenated catalyst is employed for manufacturing alcohol by hydrogenating aldehyde and contains a metal selected from nickel, copper, platinum, cobalt and palladium as an active component and shows a peak strength at an intermediate portion between the surface and the central portion of a catalyst particle higher than in the central portion of the catalyst particle on a chart of the content of the active component if the cross section of the catalyst is measured with an X-ray microanalyzer (EPMA). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
