<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery highly safe and improved high temperature preservation characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: This non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided with: a positive electrode 11 absorbing and discharging lithium ion and containing positive electrode active material, a negative electrode 12 absorbing and discharging lithium ion and containing negative electrode active material; and non-aqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode active material is composed of a mixture of spinel type lithium manganate and lithium cobaltate, and a first different element of at least either of Zr and Ti is added to the cobalt acid lithium. Consequently, elution of cobalt when storing at high temperature is suppressed and high temperature preservation characteristic and safety are improved.
