PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new antimicrobial/mildewproofing agent exhibiting antimicrobial/mildewproofing properties by using a heteropoly acid and suitable for imparting antimicrobial properties to industrial products, daily necessaries, and the like, and for a mildewproofing treatment. SOLUTION: The antimicrobial/mildewproofing agent is obtained by containing a salt of the heteropoly acid in which a part or all of hydrogen ions in the heteropoly acid are replaced with one or two or more kinds of ions selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal ion, an alkaline earth metal ion, an ammonium ion and an alkylammonium ion.
