PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for efficiently utilizing polychlorobenzenes that are formed as by-products of poor utility in the production of p-dichlorobenzene by chlorination of benzene, definitely provide a technology for producing useful chlorobenzenes by using polychlorinated aromatic compounds and benzene as starting materials. SOLUTION: In the method for producing chlorobenzene from the reaction between polychlorinated aromatic compounds and benzene, a fine porous zeolite into which a metal selected from the group 4 through group 13 in the periodic table and bearing a 10 or more membered oxygen ring is used as a catalyst.
