PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for refining propylene oxide, enabling a high-purity propylene oxide to be produced through efficiently reducing impurities, by merely addition of a simple operation, from a crude propylene oxide that is obtained from an epoxidized reaction liquid formed by reaction between ethylbenzene hydroperoxide and propylene in the presence of a catalyst. SOLUTION: The method for refining propylene oxide in the process for producing a refined propylene oxide by extractive distillation of a crude propylene oxide using an 8-12C hydrocarbon compound as extractant comprises the following procedure: Water is fed to the overhead part of an extractive distillation column for discharging from the overhead impurities including water, aldehydes, alcohols, glycols, organic acids and/or esters thereof contained in the crude propylene oxide, and propylene oxide is recovered from a mixture of the impurities and propylene oxide distilled to the overhead, and concurrently, propylene oxide containing impurities-containing wastewater is discharged out of the system.
