PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently manufacture a product which resembles ripened compost from biological treatment sludge and is free of malodor at a relatively low treatment temperature for a short time at a low cost. SOLUTION: The biological treatment sludge and vegetable-based fibers are fed into a heating vessel 1 and are dried under agitation and are further heat treated at 150 to 200°C and thereafter the ripened compost-like material is obtained by cooling the mixture. Waste paper, sawdust, rice bran, used tea leaves, bagasses, leaves, etc., are used as the vegetable-based fibers. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
