PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive a blank in a non-rotating manner in a transfer device of a heading machine in which the blank of the predetermined length cut out from a metal wire in a cutting machine of the heading machine is transversely shifted and delivered to a heading die. SOLUTION: A pair of finger means are constituted of a movable finger means comprising a movable finger body 6c and a spring to urge the movable finger body 6c in the closing direction and a fixed finger means 6f. Synchronization is performed by a driving cam 8b and an opening/closing cam 9a, and when a transfer body 5 is returned to the receiving position, the movable finger means is set in a fully opened condition, the movable finger means 6c is set in a fully closed condition before the transfer body 5 starts moving to the delivery position. A blank B is held synchronous with the time when the blank B is pulled out of a hole in a cutter, transversely shifted to the delivery position to deliver the blank to a heading die 3, the movable finger means is set in a fully closed condition, and a holding part is retracted.
