PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a calculating method of temperature distribution in the axial direction of a work roll for hot finishing mills when rolling is performed by setting it again to the finishing-mill stand after correcting the shape of the work roll which is drawn out from the finishing-mill stand of the hot finishing mill by performing roll-grinding as it is warm in a roll shop. SOLUTION: By this calculating method, the temperature distribution (θ<SB>m</SB>(t<SB>0</SB>+Δt, x)) in the axial direction of the work roll at the completion time (t<SB>0</SB>+Δt) of roll grinding is calculated on the basis of the temperature distribution (θ<SB>m</SB>(t<SB>0</SB>, x)) in the axial direction of the work roll at drawing-out time (t<SB>0</SB>) and the surface temperature (θ<SB>ce</SB>) in the middle in the axial direction of the work roll at the completion time (t<SB>0</SB>+Δt) of the roll grinding.
