PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure which enables the eviction of a vicious person who attempts to recognize medals forcibly by inserting a light emitting element through a medal slot. SOLUTION: A medal selector 10 of a slot machine 1 selects correct medals among those thrown in to exclude the wrong medals. The medal selector 10 has a medal path 14 so formed to let the medals pass under the dead load thereof and a photosensor 26 for detecting the medals passing through the medal path 14. The photosensor 26 has a light emitting part 26a and a photodetecting part 26b. The light emitting part 26a emits light being modulated under the oscillation thereof and the potodetecting part 26b detects the light emitted from the light emitting part 26a synchronizing the emission by the light emitting part 26a to demodulate it, thereby detecting the medals passing through the medal path 14.
