The plate (1) has a relief-type structure on its upper surface, for example an irregular pattern of peaks (2) and troughs (3). Each plate has the same contours on at least two facing sides (10a,10b,10c,10d) so that two such plates present a seamless transition from one to another when joined together. On a rectangular plate all four facing sides have the same contours. The contours from the middle of one side out are mirrored on both sides so that a connection is possible when laid together. The plates have zones of different coarseness and of different texture.
