<p>A method and system for applying the Ethernet Multi-Point Control Protocol (MPCP) to a residential network environment that includes a plurality of devices, each two devices connected by a link. The standard MPCP is enhanced to enable each of two linked devices to assume the role of a master, and the master is used cooperatively with the enhanced MPCP to control transmission processes in the residential network. The method and system further allow establishment of an end-to-end channel between any two devices through at least one bridge of the residential network.</p> |
