<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode sub-active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that has a high battery characteristic, especially a high over-discharging characteristic, a high cycle characteristic, a high temperature characteristic, a high output characteristic, and the like, and also has small swelling of the battery. <P>SOLUTION: The positive electrode sub-active material for the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery has lithium transition metal composite oxide of at least a spinel structure. In the positive electrode sub-active material, the existing ratio of magnesium on the surface of the lithium transition metal composite oxide is 70% or more, and lithium exists in the 16c site of a crystal structure of the lithium transition metal composite oxide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
