PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical element used for an optical pickup apparatus securing profile irregularity required for a lens part while having small appearance, and to obtain a small optical pickup apparatus provided with the optical element.

SOLUTION: The optical element has the lens part to be an optically functional surface and a flange part rectangularly formed on the periphery of the lens part and is formed by injecting resin from a resin injecting port disposed in a position corresponding to a corner part of the flange part in a metal mold.
