PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an expansion coefficient of an electric double-layer capacitor by combining a non-porous carbonaceous electrode manufactured with a particular method with an electrolyte of a particular constitution. SOLUTION: In the electric double-layer capacitor which is formed by soaking non-porous carbonate electrode into an organic electrolyte; the organic electrolyte includes pyrrodinium compound salt as the solvent, and the carbonate electrode can be obtained with the method comprising the step that needle coke green powder is baked for 2 to 4 hours at 600 to 900°C under the non-active atmosphere, the baked powder is mixed with alkali hydroxide in the amount of 1.8 to 2.2 times with the weight ratio, the mixed powder is baked for 2 to 4 hours at 650 to 850°C under the non-active atmosphere, and the carbon powder is obtained by removing and drying alkali hydroxide through cleaning of the baked mixed powder and the step that the carbonate powder is formed.
