PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent increase in the internal resistance of an electric double-layer capacitor, wherein an electrode unit provided with at least one pair of electrodes and a separator between them and an electrolyte are received in the outer container and the opening of this outer container is sealed by a sealing plate, by suppressing the deterioration of the adhesion between electrode materials, the adhesion between the electrode and the separator, and the adhesion between the electrode and a current collector, etc. SOLUTION: In the electric double layer capacitor, the electrode unit 1 provided with at least one pair of electrodes 1a, 1b and the separator 1c between them and the electrolyte are received in the outer container 10, and the opening of this outer container is sealed by the sealing plate 20.
