PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overcurrent detecting/interrupting device that does not cause circuit components and the likes to be damaged even if the circuit components that constitute a device are wrongly connected and that is cost effective. SOLUTION: With a power supply voltage V<SB>DD</SB>supplied from a power supply circuit 11 to loads A, B, C through each of resistors R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>, R<SB>3</SB>, an overcurrent flows from the power supply circuit 11 into the load C through the resistors R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>, R<SB>3</SB>, if a short circuit occurs to the load C. As a result, the potential at the base terminal of a switching transistor Q<SB>1</SB>drops to 0 V so that a voltage Veb of the switching transistor Q<SB>1</SB>becomes roughly 0.6 V, which turns on the switching transistor Q<SB>1</SB>. An alarm is emitted that a short circuit is caused at the load side, by outputting a prescribed logic level signal from the collector terminal of the switching transistor Q<SB>1</SB>to a controller 13.
