PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp power supply device with stable brightness of illumination and low noise capable of lighting and driving an electrodeless discharge lamp. SOLUTION: The power supply device for the electrodeless discharge lamp, so made to supply high-frequency current to an excitation coil LD<SB>coil</SB>and excite the electrodeless discharge lamp by the electromagnetic induction action, is provided with a boosting means A for generating intermittent current Is by intermittently grounding rectifying voltage Vd rectifying an alternate current power source CMP to generate boosted voltage VB by the electromagnetic induction action; a high-frequency inverter B for generating a high-frequency switching current I<SB>RF</SB>by alternately conducting two semiconductor switches Q2, Q3 connected in series between the boosted voltage VB and the ground based on respective switch control signals GS<SB>RF2</SB>, GF<SB>RF3</SB>and supplying the high-frequency switching current I<SB>RF</SB>to an excitation coil LD<SB>coil</SB>; and a high-frequency transformer TR for inputting high-frequency voltage Vs generated by the high-frequency switching current I<SB>RF</SB>, inducing two induction voltages with opposite polarities due to the electromagnetic induction action, and generating the respective switching control signals GS<SB>RF2</SB>, GS<SB>RF3</SB>from the two induction voltages.
