PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of machining the end face of an optical fiber with which the end face of the optical fiber on which a ferrule is mounted and fixed is machined together with the ferrule. SOLUTION: A cutting tool 1 is used whose cutting edge 1 exists mostly dislocated outward from a center axis on the end face 3a of an axis member, the cutting tool 1 is rotated, and the optical fiber 7, on the terminal-processed end of which the ferrule 9 is mounted and fixed, is inserted into an introducing hole 5 of a guide member 4 and abutted to the cutting edge 1a of the rotating cutting tool 1 at a position dislocated from the rotating center, thus the end face of the optical fiber 7 is machined together with the ferrule 9.
