PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an imaging method capable of producing a photographed image with less noise (excellent S/N) and a wide dynamic range. SOLUTION: A flowchart denoting operations in still picture photographing processing includes: a step S1 of carrying out when imaging processing is started; a step S2 of starting ordinary exposure; a step S6 of starting exposure taking a time four times of the original exposure time when an imaging signal obtained by the ordinary exposure is read (S5); a step S9 of reading data obtained by the exposure in the step S6; a step S10 of analyzing two image data obtained by the exposures executed twice, that is, analyzing whether the intensity of light received by each pixel is 0.25 or over or below, adopting data obtained by the first exposure when the pixel has the luminous intensity of 0.25 or over, adopting data resulting from dividing the data acquired by the second exposure by 4 when the pixel has the luminous intensity of 0.25 or below; and a step S11 of generating one image data on the basis of the adopted data.
