PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film magnetic head in which a high recording magnetic field is achieved, track width accuracy is high, and a needless magnetic field at an off-track position is reduced. SOLUTION: Track width accuracy is improved by providing a lower part magnetic pole tip part on a lower part magnetic pole main layer and forming an upper part magnetic pole tip part or an upper part magnetic pole tip layer on this flat plane. Magnetic field intensity is increased by increasing height of the lower part magnetic pole tip part. Also, needless medium intrasurface magnetic field at an off-track position is reduced by providing difference in level of a projection having wider width than width of the upper part magnetic pole tip layer on the lower part magnetic pole tip part. High recording magnetic field intensity exceeding 716 kA/m (9,000Oe) is realized by making size of each part of the head appropriate. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
